March 13, 2014 Lines, Points and Quadrilaterals...

This morning, we worked on point and line symmetry. This was NOT easy. Point Symmetry is when every part has a matching part: the same distance from the central point. but in the opposite direction. (We copied this.) For instance, this animated card shows the Q's on opposite sides and upside down from one another. We're going to work on this some more because I just can't understand it.

The Q's are opposite and equi-distant from the midpoint (Mom's words)

Line symmetry is pretty easy. It's when something looks the same on each side when you fold it. Or another name for this is reflection or mirror symmetry.

Here's a pic of line symmetry. Enjoy the view of butterfly wings. They are the same on both sides.

We worked on this for 2 hours. And we're probably going to work on it another hour tomorrow.

Spanish, nothing much to talk about. I just repeated stuff that I learned already. I'm starting to pick things up.

We saw turkey vultures this morning! They were in the woods next to our house! They were warming up by stretching their wings in the sun. It was exciting! They were gigantic! I went online and I learned that they go down south for the winter only times and up north for the summer only times. They migrate. They only eat dead things. This is sorta good for the environment because they get rid of carcuses. Here's a video.....

here's a pic
Babies look cute.....
That's all for now...

Stay tuned 'til tomorrow!

TO BE CONTINUED.....
